The name of this truffle derives from the hook-shaped spores. The Uncinato truffle is so similar to the Summer Truffle that some classify it as one of the Aestivum varieties. The outer skin is black and warty. It has a darker pulp than Summer Truffle and several strongly marked white veins. The flavor is subtle, pleasant and delicate.
